Sandy's April tips

Added on: April 3, 2009

When planting up a new shrub border why not plant a few herbaceous plants in to the gaps to give you added colour until the shrubs close up .

On sale this from this month onwards we have a over 50 varieties of herbaceous old favourites like Astilbe's in Red, White and Pink.  Iris, plus Phlox, Geraniums, Rock plants etc are now available.

Why not try something different this year like Rheum Palmatum Tanguticum, the flowering rhubarb, or Eryngium Planum the Sea Holly, in stock now.

Plant up some Marigolds or Tagetas into 1 ltr pots and place them in-between your Tomato plants to keep whitefly away.

When planting Cabbage and other Brassicas place a 10cm stem of rhubarb into the side of the hole before planting.
This helps prevent club root.
Before you place your growbag in position place a layer of rotted compost or manure down first then, cut a slit about 10 cm long under where your plant will be.This will allows the roots to pass through and give you good growth and a good old fashioned flavour to your crops
